The Agricultural Fair was held at the University
of the Virgin Islands' Reichold center located at
Brewers bay near the airport. The grounds were
well populated by nearly 200 booths and 4,000 to
5,000 attendees.
There was a food class in which Caribbean
Specialty Foods' boothe was located and also
"Ireece Joseph and her young helper exhibiting
homemade Crucian (from St Croix) preserves,
hot sauces and candied local fruits. There were
also several farmers serving hand made local
fruit juices such as "Sour sop" "Mango" and
"Guava Berry". Local cuisine was plentiful with
patties, fish balls and stew chicken at every
corner.
Then there was the craft section with everything
from baskets hand woven from palm fronds to
specialty teas and soaps. The local growers
were selling fresh grown papaya, sweet
bananas, star fruit, sugar cane and lots more.
Local eggs, honey, and chicken were available,
as well as a huge selection of trees and bushes.

from energy conservation to building
permits and wildlife.
Entertainment by: local Caribbean quadrille dancers
dancing old Crucian style. It was very entertaining and
they looked as though they were having a great time
despite the blazing hot sun and 90 degree weather.

The Water Island Auction is held at Honeymoon Beach Water Island every year in February.
This Year Caribbean Specialty Foods donated a Collectors Gift Basket with Autographed bottles of
Hottie, Sweetie and Island BBQ, to help raise money for the Water Island Civic Association (WICA).
WICA is an organization made up of Water Island residents who volunteer to keep the island looking
beautiful and look after the residents interests. They raise funds in a variety of ways including
collection yearly memberships and of course the annual auction. The funds are used to maintain the
beach, roads, ambulance, firetruck and associated equipment. Volunteers run WISAR a search and
rescue team that are on call in shifts to respond to any medical or other emergency.
The Collector Sauces went for $35.00 and the winner
(right) Lynn Claus, looked very happy with her purchase.

The Shaffers have always been the Auctioneers of the Water Island Auction since it started.
Mr Shaffer pictured above is now 80-something years old and still partakes quite avidly in the
goings on. His son Lee Shaffer now does the MC however, so they're keeping it in the family,
and Mrs Shaffer assists in the showing of products, along with Brandon (15yrs) and Arthur
(11yrs).

The Major Motion Picture of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" starring Brad Pitt and Cate
Blanchett was partly shot at Honeymoon beach Water Island the beginning of January 2007.
Floyd Douglas Ackley VP Caribbean Specialty Foods, was the Master Grill chef for the Caterer of the Movie Crew, down at the
Beach. Caribbean Specialty Foods' Fish Jerky was available for the crew on the snack table and "Hottie & Sweetie" were on the
table as condiments.
Honeymoon Beach was closed for two days and all the boats moored in the bay had to move for the days during the shoot. It
was quite a lot of excitement for Water Island and we are proud and flattered that Paramount Pictures chose our little island for
thier movie.
Empty Honeymoon Bay (Druif Bay), all the boats had to leave.
