Water Island is the Fourth of the Virgin Islands and is located in Charlotte
Amalie harbor, St Thomas. At a little less than 500 acres, Water Island is
home to about 150 residents, and holiday home to another 50. Golf carts are
the main mode of transportation on the island and if you need to get to St
Thomas for grocerys you must take a 5 minute dinghy ride or the ferry.
A Bar and Deli called Pirates Ridge is located just above Water Islands'
popular Honey moon beach. Owned and operated by long time Water Island
resident Mark Pippen & family. Pirates Ridge is open daily for sandwichs and
made to order pizza, and on Fridays its all you can eat pizza and salad bar with
live music.
On Honeymoon beach is "Hiedi's Honeymoon Grill" Owned and operated by
Hiedi also a long time resident of Water Island. Its a mobile food wagon that
serves lunch and dinner on Saturdays and lunch again on Sundays. There is
also Hiedis Mini Wagon which is a golf cart decked out with refrigeration and
freezer that pulls up to the beach Mon-Fri for lunch. A beer and burger with a
splash of Caribbean Specialty Foods' "Sweetie" what could be better! Then on
your way to the ferry you can get breakfast from Hiedi at the ferry dock. and every
Monday night there's the drive in Movie at the beach. It's quite a scene.
At the other end of Honeymoon Beach is "Joes" beach bar. A new additon to the
Water Island scene and a very popular hang out for the locals.Owned and
operated by..... "Joe" with the help of his Wife Melissa. Its a small blender bar
built on a boat trailer and you can get any kind of mixer, blender drink or beer
you want. You can even get a bag of Caribbean Specialty Foods' "Fish Jerky" if
your'e feeling hungry. Every drink comes with a smile and some great
entertainment. Everyday music plays on the stereo and on Sundays there are
guest appearances by the best local bands and a pot luck dinner.
Of course we can't forget that Water Island is also home to Caribbean Specialty
Foods, maker of the best fish jerky in de islands mon!
